Shopping here is limited to a variety of sports shops, liquor stores, a supermarket and the usual T-shirt and souvenir shops. There is a handful of small factory outlets alongside Main Street, selling mainly clothes and accessories. Other nondescript outlets are dotted about town.
During the daytime the winter activities include downhill skiing, snowboarding, cross-country trails, snowmobiling, dog sledding, snow-shoeing and outdoor ice-skating.
In the summer there is hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, lake fishing, wilderness trails and hot-air ballooning. There is also 2 golf courses, one of which is 18-hole.
The nightlife here is primarily small bars and informal restaurants, fairly low key in comparison to major European and Colorado resorts. There are also a couple of cinemas.
There is the usual array of fast-food chains. Reasonable variety of informal restaurants serving Western and international cuisine (including Italian and Mexican). All have generally large portions. There is cheap local beers and Californian wines.
