Suitability
Kefalos
The resort suits couples and families seeking a quieter holiday venue on the island; not for ravers and the younger crowd may be disappointed. The accommodation here is mainkly small hotels in the cheap and cheerful category, together with a swish Club Med. The beach in Kefalos is a mix of sand and shingle and is ideal for lazy days in the sun. The sea is crystal clear and warm making it well suited for all the watersports that can be arranged here. Some of the best beaches in Kos are nearby including Paradise Beach. There are fascinating historical sites scattered around the island, particularly in the capital of Kos Town, 90 minutes away. Further afield, boat tours can be arranged to the spectacular volcanic island of Nisyros and to Rhodes (though be aware the journey takes almost three hours). Shopping here is limited to basic minimarkets and tourist tat; the more serious shoppers should head for Kos Town. There is a Mmoney exchange available but no banks. There is an abundance of simple tavernas serving Greek, British or fast food, with a few Chinese and Indian restaurants thrown in.
