This area caters for the upmarket and middlemarket couples, singles and families who like walking and bird-watching as well as sunbathing. It is not for party animals. The streets can be quite steep in places.
The accommodation here offers a growing number of self-catering apartments as well as simple studios, tavernas and pensions. Much of the accommodation is located on the edge of the village.
The beaches here are long and narrow, curving around a shallow bay with a couple of rock breakwaters. It is a bit scrubby by the tavernas to the south west; but best at the north east end, where there are a few sunbeds and parasols, and no water sports.
For shopping there is nothing, apart from a local minimarket and a few tourist shops; Skala or Argostoli are better options.
During the daytime time is spent lazing on the beach watching the fishermen; walking; bird-watching; organised night-time turtle watches at nearby beaches of Kaminia and Potamakia.
The nightlife here consists of drinking ouzo with fishermen at the small selection of local bars; "Greek evenings" and live music at some tavernas; the nearest disco is in Skala.
There is a small choice of good tavernas offering traditional Greek food, particularly fish.
