There is a wide strip of fine golden sand runs the length of the south shore of the island for just over 4 miles. It is backed by sand dunes in just the same manner as the whole length of the Costa de la Luz but lacking the shade-giving pines common elsewhere. Plenty of facilities in front of the hotels with sunbeds, sun umbrellas, bar/restaurants, showers etc. During the daytime the beach is a favourite and the real reason most overseas visitors come. There is a golf course on the north shore plus others within a reasonable drive. The marina is great for pleasure craft. Take a stroll round the old fishing village of Punta del Morales will put your luxury accommodation into focus, otherwise it's watching the builders and the remorseless erection of more and more concrete. The nightlife here offers not much other than the organised entertainments in the hotels and maybe a bit of live music in a bar, it's a case of tell us if you find any; Ayamonte comes to the rescue again with a more vibrant nocturnal scene including discos and some flamenco. There are a few restaurants in the shopping centre at Punta del Moral. A few more at Isla Canela Beach. Both locations have "chiringuitos" (shack restaurants) on the beach. Plenty more variety at Ayamonte.
