Fuschl is suited to those wanting a simple, peaceful break; walkers, hikers, nature-lovers and cross-country skiers. Many people come to walk or sit on the promenade and watch life drift by. Not best known as a ski destination; the nearest good skiing is at Hintersee, 10 mls away.
Accommodation ranges from simple pensions to upmarket fitness-orientated hotels. 3-star establishments predominate.
Those with shopping on the agenda may be disappointed with little available. Apple strudel, souvenirs, wood carvings and schnapps are about the lot. Nearby city of Salzburg offers sweet relief to shopaholics.
General activities and entertainment include hiking, walking (over 10 different trails), canoeing, rowing, fishing, lake swimming and water sports. In winter there's curling, skating on the lake, sleigh rides, tobogganing, snow-shoeing and cross-country skiing. A pebbled beach by the promenade allows children to play and feed the ducks while parents look on. By night there are a limited number of bars tending to yawn to an early close. No wild apres-ski scene in winter.
Eateries are limited to mostly good hotel restaurants offering local cuisine and a la carte menus. A few cafes for snacks.
