Bayahibe is most suited to middle and upmarket all-inclusive types not requiring local flavour or a sophisticated infrastructure beyond the confines of their hotels.

Accommodation here is very much centred around the all-inclusive market in isolated positions beside the beach. The Bayahibe and Dominicus beaches combine into a 6-ml stretch of gently shelving, soft, white sand studded with mature palms, broken only by Bayahibe village's short rocky shore. Bathing in front of hotel complexes is partially marred by inshore rocks but protected by the offshore reef. All properties provide extensive water-based activities, especially diving and snorkelling.

Excursions include: full day boat trips to Saona and Catalina islands; East National Park including caves with pre-Columbian petroglyphs; visit to working sugar-cane mill; Altos de Chavon, artists' village with regional archaeological museum and amphitheatre; scenic tour of Rio de Chavon; Santo Domingo.
