I've spent here one week with my 4 years old daughter and I was very pleased about the hotel as well as the resort.

Our room was nicely decorated and the staff was very friendly, especially with my daughter. The food was excellent, with a lot of variety. Although there were at my opinion lots of people staying at the hotel, there were enough of sunbeds at the pool. There was a separate small pool for children and the water was not too cold. The hotel was very good situated, in a quite part of Salou but yet close to the shops (five minutes walk) and the beaches (ten minutes walk).

We went for two days to the Portaventura Park (15 minutes walk from the hotel), which we enjoyed a lot. I especially recommend the shows in the Chinese part of the park. You really should see them all.
Salou of course is a very beautiful resort with a great promenade with fountains and palm trees. There were lots of playgrounds on the beaches. Children aren't neglected at all in Salou. If you like shopping, in the old part of Salou you can find nice boutiques with clothes for women and children. There are lots of them.

My daughter and I had a great time. We will certainly go back to Salou and we will definitely choose this hotel again.

First of all I would suggest that anyone reading this review reads plenty of others in order to get a balanced view. Also remember people have different tastes and opinions on all issues involved.

We went to Salou as a group of 15 people (4 families) and by and large had a good two week holiday. We all felt that the resort did not live up to our expectations (based on first hand reports from friends etc) and was a little scruffy. Same shops as other similar resorts (boring after a few nights walking up and down)and two main beaches both of which were fairly crowded.

The hotel was very nice, clean well laid out etc, but the service at the bar for food and drinks was slow. We were self catering so I couldn't comment on the food, although most people we spoke to thought it was very nice. The pool was supervised and a security guard patrolled the hotel at all times. We eat at "The Boat House" most nights which was very nice and reasonably priced. Portaventura was very good and the kids loved it (very little queing).

Be careful not to fall for the market excursion to Bonna Vista (14.5 Eoros pp) it is slightly bigger than the Salou market which was just as good/bad. The airport is very small and in it'self would put us off returning to Salou.

Overall we had a good holiday but we felt Salou wasn't what we were led to believe.

We have Just returned from a 2 week holiday at this apart hotel. Overall the accom. is not bad, our towels were changed on a daily basis and the bed linen at least 5 times! Our main complaint was the sofa bed, it was the most unconfortable bed we have ever slept in and we have come back with bad backs.

Although our room was on the main road, once you shut the doors the noise wasn't too bad except on a Saturday night when the locals are about. We didn't feel safe letting our children on the balcony, but the air conditioning was very good and so kept us cool.

As the hotel is full of Brits who think that it is ok to let their children run around the hotel and up and down the corridors until Mid night it is quite noisy if you fancy an early night.

The staff are very good, 2 of the receptionists are English. The entertaiment is good but not in your face, if you do not want to join in then you don't have to and are not forced to.

A visit to Port Aventura is a must, we purchased a 14 day pass in the UK, we visited 7 times and our children loved it, it caters for all ages and if you visit in July and August the park is open to mid night and a visit when it is all lit up is a must.

The hotel do not open the doors to the pool until 9am, at this time there is a mad rush which could remind you of the next sales. If you get to the pool after about 10am you stand no chance of getting a bed unless it is change over day.

We booked this holiday 4 weeks prior to our departure date 21st August, for a 2 week stay. As we had left it late there was not many available places left, we had 2 to chose from and choose the Albatros Apartments. When seeing the picture in the Skytours brochure we were very apprehensive, also the hilly location.

On our arrival, from the outside the apartments we not very appealing, just like the holiday brochure. On entering our apartment we were disappointed, but we werent expecting a 5* luxury hotel. Apparently they had been recently modernised, although you wouldnt of guessed. From our balcony we had a stunning view of the Med. Bed lineen and towels changed very regularly, all staff are very helpful, friendly, pleasent and can speak English apart from the maids, who are lovely but spoke little English. The Albatros has a very handy well stocked supermarket comparable prices, also Big Al's Bistrogood cheap English food, owned by very friendly English people, average entertainment nightly.

Regarding location the brochure didnt do it any justice, we found it very well situated and excellent location, they are a 5-10 minutes walk away from the town centre, and excellent bus service on the door step. The brochure stressed about being a hilly location, this was not a problem for a young active family. There was 4 beutiful beaches within 2 minutes walk, although hilly with steps. This would be a problem for small children, prams and buggies and older people. While visiting the beaches you do have to pay for sun loungers they are around 3 euros each. You also have to pay for the sun loungers and rubber rings while at the 2 water parks on the Costa Dorada.

Places of interest Port Aventura themepark, Costa Caribe waterpark, Aquapolis waterpark (all easy access by bus), Barcelona freetime and fountains excursion, La pineda, Barcelona NouCamp and various other places.

The Thompsons rep Mark and his "new apprentice" Anthony were both excellent and were at the apartments regularly offering help, advice and infomation in a very professional manner. 'They let us down by not being united supporters!'

Generally we had a good holiday, what the apartment lacked the staff and reps made up for. Although 7-10 days would be adequate.

A recent holiday to this accomidation, the rooms were very poor, under average standrd for this day and age. In need of big re-vamp.

Poolside furniture was needing to go to the dump. I'm sure plastic garden furniture is cheap enough and would have made a big difference to the poolside and this accomidation. Apart from the very very poor accomidation the view was lovely, also i may add Als Bistro served very good meals at a reasonalble rate, service was quick and on time. Also last but not least Kim who Als wife, very very nice lady managed to get 2 skirts for the price of 1 drink, good on ye lass! Hope they fitted nice, no hard feelings.. u and your husband were very nice to our party. Take care love the clampits! (Be Back Soon)

These apartments are very Basic.
When we read in the brochure they had just been referbished we thought oh these will be nice. How wrong all they had done was paint the rooms.
The furniture was old, the bathroom was had old tiles on and was not too big.
These apartments are not big enought for 4 people there was 3 of us in our room and that was cramped.
The pool area was very cramped hence we did not go and also the pool was freezing cold even on an afternoon in august.
Big Als cafe is a bonus for these apartments, the food is nice and not expensive, cant say anything about the entertainment as we never went.

The other good thing about the apts are the balconies they are a nice size, unfortunatly we did not have a sea view we were in room 214 which is on the first floor oppisite the lifts and above the entrance to the apartments.
Also we hired aircon for the week at the cost of 58euro which is a bit steep.
You also have to leave a deposit on arrival of £120 for damages which is a laugh really when you see the rooms.
Can definalty say we will not be going back, infact we were happy for the first time ever that we were only there for 1 week as we were ready to go.
Also the resort of salou itself is dirty and has seen better days.
We have been to a lot of spanish resorts and islands and this was the worst.
