Post    Hotel Festa Brava - Lloret de Mar

Lloret de Mar...

First imagine a 3k long fine white silicon beach that actually squeeks when you walk on it! Secondly.. Fringe it with a palm lined promenade that stretches all down the beach. Back it with a dark blue sky and crystal clear sparkling warm waters that shades from aqua marine green turquoise to deep deep dark blue. Throw in some sand stone formations and some small islands stretching out to the horizon which gives you a seacape that inspires the imagination.... that is what you get when you book a cheap Llorret de Mar deal!

The Hotel Festa brava is where we stayed and what a wonderful time we had. The staff are very helpful and friendly, Susanne in particular. She made a different swan out of the toweling every day and placed it in on our bed with a bit of chocolate!

We even had our own area by the pool and they engraved our names into a plaque and placed it on the end of our bed, which they gave to us when we left!

The weather was fantastic apart from the three days of heavy down pour we had. The rain started to come through our moldy ceiling but sussane was able to loan me her mopping up bucket (£3 per day) to protect our sleeping area!

All in all a brilliant time and can't wait to get back out there..

Post    Els Llorers Apartments - Lloret de Mar

Havin been abroad many times I was unimpressed with this resort, on booking this holiday we were told we would be one of two hotels-ELS LLORES or the BLAU, we got the short straw! In the brochure the hotel id described as being in Lloret de mar-Thompson have stretched the resort as far as it could by using this description, before you even hit the hotel thers a sign for Tossa de mar! The hotel is 20-25 mins from main centre, the walls are extremly thin-kept awake most nights till 8am with parties going on around us-there are warnings about noise but no-one to reinforce them! On a steep hill, shop at the bottom-thats all that is around unless you walk or go into centre.Expensive to drink in hotel, food not the best.

Resort is dominated by dutch, even in the irish bar the bar staff are all dutch! Resort has recently been allocated as an 18-30 destination-i was 21 felt extremly old next to the 17/18 year olds!
Would reccomend Orient Express for food and the Picadilly for drink(a few doors apart) happy hour all night, 3 pints 3euros!
Personally I will not be revisiting Lloret as I feel it does not have alot to offer.

Post    Costa Encantada - Lloret de Mar

This was my second visit to this hotel. In the 3 years since my last visit, the complex has been greatly improved with the addition of the supermarket and Disco Bar. The prices were a little more expensive than I would have thought, but still considerably cheaper than the UK.

The apartments are well equiped with a lounge, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom and are clean and spacious. The kitchen even has a toaster and a kettle. Very handy for recovering from a little indulgence the night before!

Although it is very close to the main resort of Lloret de Mar (about a 20 minute walk), we found ourselves in the complex most of the time. The pool area is fantastic during the day with a very handy bar/cafe for pizza, chips and ice-lollies (yes I did out on 10 stone in weight!)and the entertainment in the Disco Bar in the evenings was just too good to miss! The Entertainment team this year were brilliant, Alfie, Darren and crew kept us in stiches for a whole week, we couldn't have asked for more. I felt like a kid again!!! Surprised) The resident singing duo, B.M.W, were really talented and their themed nights were just the ticket!

The beach at Fenals is a 5 minute walk away and although I was to much of a coward to try, they seemed to have a good range of watersports which is good if you prefer a more active holiday. There are beachfront bars which are good to relax in and have a bite to eat, and although the resteraunts along the main strip lean towards the British market, you can still try that authentic Spanish cuisine if you desire.

All in all, I would recommend this complex and resort to pretty much anybody of any age. The locals and the staff all seem to be very friendly.

I just wish I had booked 2 weeks again instead of 1, but having been back 3 days, tan fading, I am already considering going again later in the year....bank balance permitting of course!

Having read reviews, was not disapointed.
Could not fault apartments- clean, spacious, problems resolved very quickly. Maid service excellent, clean towels/sheets almost every other day.
Looked like a wonderful place for kids but was ok for adults too. We ate in the english resaurant once and that was fine. Pool bar does a mean toasty for that afternoon snack!
We found The Hungry Horse on the road to lloret served excellent food and staff were very friendly, Sangria was like rocket fuel there!! Argentinian steak house in the square off Lloret's main street was exellent too as was Orient express on sea front.

All in all we had an excellent stay and would definately go back.
One of the best apartments we have been in.

Post    Costa Encantada - Lloret de Mar

Just got back from the Costa Encantarda, what can i say,it was great, the hotel was spotless, the staff were great and the entertainment was brill,we went A.O.A and did not know what to expect, when we arrived i knew we were going to have a great holiday when the rep told us where we were staying. This place is great if you have kids there is always something for them to do,the entertainment staff are great they just don't stop making you laugh and keeping your kids happy.

The only problem we had was noise, there are signs up asking you to respect the other guests and keep the noise down after midnight but not many do.Would definately recommend the disco bar(8pm-3am)happy hour is 1-2am,the staff there are great especially Juan carlos the waiter he's brill,if your glass is empty he's there to get you another drink.

We went H/B and the food was lovely, there was something there for everyone,i'm a very fussy eater but there was plenty there to keep me happy.

The only down side to this hotel is that it is on a bit of a hill, but disabled acess can be sorted out just see the rep,Dave was our rep and he was superb,if you had a problem he sorted it straight away.

I would really recommend this place to families or just couples looking for a good time because thats the one thing you are definately going to have staying here,i will be going back next year

Post    Costa Encantada - Lloret de Mar

We stayed at the Encantada after changing our booking from the Condado apartments, and we are very glad we did.

The Encantada is a fantastic place very clean and the reception staff on duty 24 hours. We arrived at 3 in the morning and were directed to our room straight away, as a couple with 3 children aged two at 15 and one at 12 we had a larger one bedroomed that slept 5. This was ok for us- just.

The maid service was every other day, and the place was clean. The place where we stayed is actually a ten minate walk from Lloret and once you get into Lloret there are plenty of places to shop, be warned this place is not for the faint hearted it is open 24 hours a day and on a night it is nightclub after nightclub, and as it seems to be aimed at the 18-30 yes there is trouble, cheap beer hot weather and a amazing number of people partying.

The beach where we stayed at Fenals is lovely although it is gravel(no sandcastles here) and it does drop away into the sea , be careful if you have small children. At the far end of the beach is a lovely beach bar and at night it turns into a romantic candlelit bar,we spent nearly every night there without the kids who were back at the Encantada watching the on site show, this is ok for little kids but ours had a laugh watching the reps.Watch the road ! We went self catering and the supermarket is on site, but expensive, go to the supermarket under the Condado apartments its cheaper and stocks everything, it is situated on the main road in and out of Lloret and you do dice with death every time you try to cross red light or not!Get used to hearing ambulances too, aprox one every 5 mins for the entire 2 weeks we were there.

Try the resteraunts along Fenals very good value espicially Leman opposite the Golf resteraunt 45 euros for all of us inc drinks and desserts not forgetting tips. Go on the boat rides theyre really good, but watch out when swimming in the sea lots and lots of jellyfish, use the pool at the Encantada but get up at 5 if you want a sun lounger! The downfall of the Encantada is the noise we were in the apartments opposite the camp site and the French and German parties literally party all night, also there are lots of teenagers hanging around till the early hours and they certainly are not quiet. We slept for 2 days when we got home.If youre there for a quiet family holiday you dont stand a chance. We had to leave our room at ten on check out day even though the coach didnt pick us up till 12 30 am the following morning, long day, or you can pay 60 euros to stay till 6 in the room(what a rip off) We got up at 6 and bagged the last 3 sun loungers and shared them between the 5 of us.

Overall a good holiday with non stop noise , parties, gangs of holidaymakers yelling their heads off in the Condados opposite and a very big lesson on how to cross the roads,we will miss the sight of the beach bar and the vast amount of stray cats that live by the beach, and the wonderful view of the sea once is enough for us itll take us a year to recover.

Post    Costa Encantada - Lloret de Mar

Arrived early morning, 5am, and were checked in straight away. Apartment was nice, enough room for all 4 of us, great pool view.

We were asked to check all contents of the apartment, (tick box type checklist) kitchen utensils etc, we found quit a lot of our items were missing, so I'd defo make a point of letting the hotel know (just in case they think you've pinch some dodgy tin pan or fork before you left)!!

Couple of tips, take a tin opener (we didn't get one in the room) also take an iron, an extra mirror and take a tea towel!! We didn't get our tea towel changed for the two weeks, it started to get a bit smelly!

The washers & dryers are good, 4 Euro's each, you DONT need to buy washing powder, it is provided in the machine.

Maid service was good, got clean towels about 4 or 5 times we were there, they are a bit tight on the loo roll though!

Pool was fab, very clean, pool area also clean. EVERYONE puts their towels on the sunbeds at night, so if you want a good spot (even the not so good spots were taken) get in there early!

There is an outdoor stage where I was told they used to have the entertainment, but not anymore, it is in disrepair, quite tatty, and is a shame they don't use it. Keep an eye on the kids if they wander onto it.

Food was nice but wouldn't want to eat there everynight, good choice, good value for the 12 Euro's. Breakfast is 6 Euro's, once again good value.

Both snack bars are nice, the indoor one more like English food.

Jacuzzi, indoor pool and gym were not open, which was a shame, was told they open in the winter.

Drink prices were average, little bit dearer than other bars in Fenals. The Disco Bar (Happy Hour 1 - 2am) was rubbish! Three nights there were only us in there! Staff not very friendly, one girl didn't smile the whole 2 weeks we were there, at about 2.45 they empty your drinks into paper cups so they can clean your glasses!

The hotel shop has most things you need if you forget anything from home or the supermarket, but once again staff are not very friendly.

All the reps very nice and friendly, although it can be hard to find one!

The supermarket at the bottom is great, very good prices. Another tip - we bought a bottle of Vodka for about £4, and a litre of beer for about 40p, stock up and have a drink before you go out!

We didn't like Fenals much at all, although the beach is fab, shingly sand but nice, great views. Walk into Lloret from Fenals beach, the views are GREAT! Also, on Fenals beach head towards the right were the small rocks are, theres a very good outdoor cafe, great food, service and view. You can walk behind the rocks to another more smaller secluded beach.

There were a few bars in Fenals, none were very busy at all. Robin Hood has all the usual entertainment. Careful though, as one night they had strippers on and we didn't know as they didn't advertise it! We didn't venture into Lloret more than once as I've been to Blackpool enough thanks!

Theres a great Indian in Fenals, very nice English girl who owns it, there are two near each other, best one is green inside and has an outdoor section. Ask for the set menu, 11.50 for 3 courses and wine, and its yummy!

Buses and trains are regular, cheap but be prepared to have to stand sometimes. We made our own way to Barcelona at half the hotel trip price. Well worth a visit. Also, Footie Fans, look out for good deals to Barcelona home games!

So all in all, good hotel, fab pool, poor resort but a great beach!

Accomadation

This was our first holiday in the Costa Brava. The hotel was very clean as was our apartment on arrival although we felt our maid did not put much effort in cleaning the apartment during our stay. There wasn't much space for hanging your clothes as there was five of us in a one bedroom apartment. We've had this before on holiday so we took extra hangers. The pool area is spotless as in is cleaned every night. Loads of sunbeds and parasols but the hotel is large so you still need to be down sharp to get some. The entertainment is a hit and miss. We enjoyed some of the shows and the entertainers work hard to please everyone.

Food and drink

Food in the hotel is good and reasonably priced. We felt the drinks were a bit pricy though! We ate in Fenals most nights. Would recomend Hungry Horse,Indial nights, El Rancho and a chinese restraunt called Palace Amigoes. The supermarket is ok but dont buy water there as you can buy it cheaper in the hotel shop and you dont have to carry it up the hill.

Beach

Make sure you go to the beach in Fenals! We didn't at first as some reviews put us off, but the water is so clear and the shingle is better than sand as you dont take half the beach back home with you. Hire a padalo as it only costs 15euro per boat, not per person for one hour. Great Fun!

We went on the Barcelona sports and fountains trip. The sights in Barcelona were good as were the fountains. Didn't enjoy the stadium much or walking around the centre much.

Lorette was ok but we didn't spend much time there as it is the same stuff in different shops!

We will probably return to this resort and hotel in the future.

Post    Casino Royale - Lloret de Mar

Just back from 4 days at Casino Royal. My friend and I went for new year. This is not a good time of year to go, very quiet and well there was no-one British under the age of 50.

Nightlife is poor as its out of season. The accommodation was also very poor. There was no airconditioning and I realise you are wondering why that would be required in December. Well the hotel had the heating on in each room pretty much all day and all night and this was controlled from reception and therefore we had to suffer the heat.

The rooms badly need refurbished and most areas of the hotel are stuffy with people smoking.

Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience of this hotel and I would not recommend to anyone else.

My advice is give Lloret de mar a miss and maybe head for Barcelona.

Hope this helps

Post    el Aquarium - Lloret De Mar

A very clean impressive hotel with a larger foyer with two inside panoramic lifts. It has two large outside pools on two levels plus a jacuzzi and plenty of available sunbeds.Staff are very friendly and helpful and entertainment is good.If it wasn't for the food this hotel would be first class. They cater mainly for French,Spanish and German tastes with very little British style food.It became quite a chore going to Breakfast and Dinner and finding something you would like to eat. There was no choice suitable for my nine year old other than soup, chips and ice cream and very little more for the rest of us.It was a challenge to find a 3 course meal from the buffet. Please ask at reception to swop your evening meal for a packed lunch if you can't get on with the food,it may suit your tastes better(unfortunately it was'nt to our tastes either). The maid service is excellent and towels and linen were changed daily. The public areas were being cleaned constantly and nothing was too much trouble for the staff.
If you can get on with the food this would be an excellent choice.

Post    Hotel Aquarium - Lloret De Mar

4 star Hotel?? I think NOT. JUNE 2006

It was definatly the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. If you are used to 4* hotels in the canaries then you are in for a dissapointment. The Hotel is old, in the middle of the town, VERY noisey (from streets, cars mopeds and clubbers).
The rooms are kept clean and the staff are very helpful ( the only good points).

We had to move room 3 times because we couldn't sleep at night due to the noise.
the Bin men are as regular as clockwork 22.55 every night. Bars opposite and night clubs very close will have clubbers and boozers keeping you awake til 4am, and that was every night, worst being fri+sat then it was till 4.30am. Mopeds blasting up+down the streets, horns blowing for NO reason other than to make noise.
The hotel food was poor. The SAME menu all 7 nights, breakfast was the same. We eat out 3 days.

home today for a rest and a good nights sleep!! Just about everyone on the tomson coach had the same opinions

Post    Alva Park Apartments - Lloret de Mar

The apartments are very nice (all furniture from ikea) but it was great size. We had 6 girls in each apartment and it was loads of room. The balcony has electric shutters on it which was great for security. The only problem was ther was no air conditioning but it was fine. There is a bar next to the pool which is great and lots of shops about.

These apartments are the quiet part but dont worry if u want to party cause it is just 10 min walk or 2 mins on the bus. Queen vic first then Rockefellas is a must. It has great music and a sexy Dj. Fred and Larry from queen vic are a good laugh.

You have to go on teh bungee rocket too. It looks like it hits ur stomache but honeslty it is nothing - (i am scraed of heights).

There is lots of discos in lorette and a large main street which is always busy and loud, which you have to sqeeze thorugh people so it aint quiet.

I would recommend this resort to all ages, especially famalies. There is water parks near and beach is just 2 seconds away. because this area beside apartments is quiet but for younger people there is ur aprt just 10 mins away and is a must.

Post    Hotel Alexis - Lloret De Mar

just found this site while browsing the web i went to this hotel in july last year and yes it has a small pool but while i was there kids were in it enjoying themselves it is a dated hotel but the staff were fine the entertainment was pretty good the girl who arranged all entertainment was really good getting to know all the guests by their first names trying to get everyone involved in games and entertainment the staff in the bar were funny and friendly

i was on holiday on my own with 3 teenage girls and they had a ball i had no worries i knew where they were at all times because it is a small hotel our room was one of the rooms facing the wall at first i was disapoinnted but we never spent any time in the room except to sleep or get changed we met lots of people here from all over dutch germans english and everyone got on well together

also the roof terrace where you didnt have to fight for sunbeds was a great suntrap and when i was there really peacfull and relaxing with a roof terrace bar where you could serve yourself soft drinks or waiter service for the hard stuff the food in the restaurant was good with 3 girls all fussy eaters they were sometimes first in the queue at meal times only thing that we found dissapointing was the picnic we orderd for a day out cold hamberger and bun not very nicebut thats the only thing ,

lloret itself is great lots of narrow streets lots of shops plenty of bars nd clubs great beach we used to go down near where the castle was less busy. in my opinion this hotel is dated but i enjoyed it iv been in lots of hotels and believe me this is not one of the worst
