Well this was my second stay at El Greco and the standards are all still the same.
The rooms and service from the hotel are excellent and I've yet to stay in a cleaner hotel in Gran Canaria.
One welcome addition was the restaurant which i situated at the entrance of the hotel. We ate there 5 times during our stay and the food was excellent, fresh and the service very quick.
My only moan would be that there isn't enough sunbeds for the size of the hotel. There was a mad rush every morning and by 9.20 there wasn't any sunbeds left, but there's always the beach which is 20m away.
The Hawaian Bar down in the harbour does a lovely cocktail and great location to sit and watch the world go by siping on a Tequila Sunrise. The kids where out every night and ended up in Jokers which thy said was the best club due to it finishing at 07:00.
I still haven't been there when they have he La Cantina open which is a wine bar again on the premises, so still found there was nothing to do in the evening if you didn't fancy venturing out.
All in all will definitely br going back to Gran Canaria and El Greco is always a good choice.

| We thought the apartments were very good value for money, the complex itself, although small is excellent for families. Although its a shame there isn't a larger small pool for children. Mitchell (Bar Manager) and his staff were really friendly and always had a smile. The Thomsons reps work hard to ensure you have a great holiday. Entertainment round the pool during the day (aqua aerobics and water polo) were great fun. The night's entertainment was great and we didn't have to move off the complex. Vicki the entertainer made us laugh and did a variety of different things, kareoke and quizes and worked well with the resident DJ's Mark and Gary. I can't believe this is her first season ever.

Booked thru teletext 1 week half board £590 for 2 incl. trans. & meal on plane
Expected half board hotel, but actually apartments.Initial disappointment as hotels are usually better finished. This did mean though we got a fridge to fill with beer.Hotel a bit shabby & food very average. No major complaints, because the commercial centre provided brilliant entertainment.Simple idea of asking a question to win a licquer or nominate someone else to drink it.This meant you got to know loads of people quickly EXTREEMS Bar round back dj Ross excellent, even early 9.30 when not many people in you felt as though you were in one big party.BARBACOA 3 decent turns, beer bit dearer to cover cost.
IRISH COTTAGE above Extreems great irish singer guitarist & OWNER (I think)wandering around bar singing & taking the mickey.I don't know what time it closed 'cos I never lasted past 2.00
Different to los christianos tenerife where all ent. stopped at 12.00
p.s.because of location on side of mountain sun set early & everyone crams into 1 corner to catch last rays

When we arrived at the apartments we were all very pleased with the value for money - it is true that you pay for what you get. These apartments are basic, but very clean. We all had a very pleasant week staying at the Castillo Del Sol apartments. The pool area was very nice and there were plenty of sunbeds. The pool bar served nice food and all of the staff were friendly. Our favourite barman was Issac - always very friendly and helpful. None of us were kept awake by the loud music from the other bars. There are quite a few steps to go down to get to the main part of the resort and the 2 older members of the group opted to travel by taxi rather than climbing up the steps. The rest of us did not have any problems though.
We had some lovely meals in the resort and found plenty of nice bars, which suited all of us. Favourites being Harleys, Bora Bora, Star Club, Piano Bar, Royal Oak (plus cocktail bar nearby) as well as several of the Irish bars that we went in. Yes - we had plenty to drink!!! Prices were quite reasonable too.
The weather was excellent.
All in all a very good week and I would go back to the same apartments / resort again.

Just got back from 2 weeks at Castillo del Sol. 2 Adults and 4 children aged between 16 and 11. Was dredding going after reading holiday reviews for these apartments. On arrival was greeted by a fellow guest who said these apartments are grotty. On entering the apartments I was shocked they are not grotty and I have stayed in worse with a higher star rating. Saw no cockroaches in the room. Yes they are basic but you don't go on holiday to sit in your apartment. Domingo is brill in fact we missed him on a weekend, he is great with the kids, loads of activities would have been lost without him. Bar staff are ok but could smile a bit more.
Food from pool bar was great and not too expensive. Pool also great but could do with cleaning out more often. Oscars restaurant is fantastic a bit expensive but again you get what you pay for. Plenty of places to choose from to eat we didn't have a bad meal in 14 days. The best night out is The Venue run by Lol and Ann, Bev works in the evening, they made our holiday evenings. Cheap drinks, Quiz, Bingo then Karaoke the kids were made welcome. Wish I were there now, only been home a couple of hours. Mogan market is crap, Reps night ok but not worth the money, Water park at Mas Palomas would have been brill if the queues had been a bit shorter and not so many locals as they were a bit brash and the drinks were so expensive you need a bank loan for a day there. If you take a trip there make your own way there as the excursions are a rip off you don't get long enough there and what they call a meal was just a light snack. Didn't reckon much to Matt our rep a bit of a drip if you ask me. Steps are a nighmare but if you go to The Venue for a few bevies first they seem much easier to get up although you may get a few bruses like I did!
Would definately recommend these apartments may even go back sometime. X

We were pleasantly suprised with the apartments and the resort when we arrived.
The apartments are of a good size and have the basics you need. Kettle, toaster etc can be hired from reception. The whole place is clean and service from staff is really friendly. Especially Gus the barman!
They put on a BBQ on friday nights for everyone staying at the apartments which was a good laugh!!!
The steps down to the resort were a bit hard going to begin with but after a couple of days we soon started getting fitter from it!!
We have decided to go back again this year and in the process of booking it now, It's cheaper to book the accomadation and flights seperatly. (if you can get a good priced flight!)
I CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK

| booked this accomadation as a last minute emergency when friends with a villa let us down. Excellant clean basic accomadation lacking in a few essenstials such as kettle fan , toaster but could all be hired for a few euros. pool and bar good not expensive. excellant base for us as a couple not to far up hill one flight of steps. would not book if taking kids no activities for children but ideal for couples.loved the resort lots of bars and shops did not get bothered by time share touts. boat trips alittle expensive.Amdorres beach well worth a vist, local buses very cheap to use.

The Cala Nova,to our surprise, was the best 3* apts that we have ever stayed in,I'v been holidaying in spain for 25 years, the rooms were very well layed out and the cleanliness was second to none the pool area was a bit restricted for space which ment slapping a few kids for splashing(kidding).
I would have no problems whatsoever in recomending this accomadation to anyone.

Returned yesterday! Had the best holiday ever!
This is great all round accomodation that will suit everyone. What can we say about 'Dave'? Not only is he a top bloke, he is a natural with the kids, has a fab rapport with young and old alike! We only ventured out of the complex for the odd evening meal but the food at the Cala D'or was just as nice, always made sure we were back at 9pm for the quiz and bingo (not blue-rinse bingo by the way). Our 11 year old absolutely loved it!! We were surprised at the amount of 20+ singles/couples who never missed Dave's nights, which only goes to show his genuine ability to entertain. The entertainment was excellent, something for everyone.
Could not fault anything, once the cases are unpacked, will be booking again for October!!!!

Marbella Golf Bungalows - Playa del Ingles
The Marbella complex is situated adjacient to a fire gutted hotel ( Wingsun ), which is completely empty as a result ( apart from the odd vagrent ). Contractors were on site from 8am until 6pm, and sometimes later. They are completley refurbishing the deralict building with heavy machinery, cranes, diggers, cutting and welding gear etc. The noise and smell from the burned out wreck was appauling !
Acess to the Marbella is through this disgusting building site. No other route. Even the road leading to the bungalows was a dirt track, only tarmacked on Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th. Can you imagine the smell from wet tarmac. Your guests had to walk in soft tarmac for 2 days !
You describe the accomodation to be central. The main resort centre is 1.5 miles away, with the beach another mile further on. Taxis were the only way to reach the resort, and couldnt be ordered from the Marbella reception. No reason was given by the ignorant receptionist.
A heavy water leak was reported the the receptionist ( water all over the bathroom floor, upstairs landing and even into the bedroom ! ). After 3 days nothing was done to resolve this. I again contacted reception but all he said was that he could do nothing, but did offer to lend me used towels to mop up the water !!!!!!!!!!!. After 3 days I had to completely turn off the water each time the toilet was used. THIS is suposed to be a holiday !
The bar was hardly ever open after 4 oclock, and some days not at all.

This was my 4th time in Gran Canaria and my 3rd time staying at the Jardin Del Sol so that tells you a little about the apartments and indeed the resort, I love the place and never want to come home..
The bar staff at the pool bar, well what can I say, they are the most fantastic bunch of guys who couldn't make you feel more welcome if they tried.. Excellent cocktail makers and just ask Antonio for a jug of his special Sangria and I bet you won't be able to get off your bar stool either!!!
As for the resort itself there's lots of lovely places to eat and if you enjoy a full English breakfast then try Big Ben's just round the back of the apartments, very nice and very reasonable, 3,80e.
The Kasbah was pretty quiet this time round as we usually come in September but still plenty of touts trying to drag you into places. If you want lively and entertaining then the Yumbo centre is a must... Be warned, if the sight of hundreds of gay men put you off then DO NOT go after 11pm... Places I'd recommend would be Ricky's Cabaret Bar and La Belle's, two of the best drag shows ever..
I would definately recommend the Jardin Del Sol apartments to anyone who is thinking of going, great value for money, clean, tidy, spacious, I could go on and on.. I will definately be going back next year and I cant wait either.

i checked out these apartments AFTER i booked the holiday!!!
these apartments are fantastic! maid service was fantastic! the pool was fantastic other than having to wait quite a while to be served as only one member of staff on duty, i waited 40 mins for a cheese sandwich and a coke but had a good laugh whilst waiting! we had apartment 90 which was above a kareoke bar which could be quite loud but tolerable, the hotel at the back had entertainment from 7.30 till 11.30 again, this was tolerable but we all go on holiday for a good time and thats what everyone did! Guarapo restaurant was lovely, the pork sirloin was excellent!great service! yumbo centre was 10 mins away, plenty to spend your money on (check your change) and plenty of places to eat, we went to a steak house for breakfast which we found quite expensive, a pint of beer is cheaper than a glass of coke in some places!the supermarket just past guarapos could be quite expensive, you will pay top whack for english products so beware!
overall this holiday was fantastic, i went for a nice lazy week and thats what i got, i would definately go back to these apartments, the staff were friendly, the complex was lovely, the weather was fab!! 38 degrees!! im already checking out the prices for next year!
ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAY X

Hi, just got back from 2 weeks at the Jardin del atlantico. To be honest after reading some of the coments i was in 2 minds wether to come here or not.
We were given a room at the front of the complex and yes the music from the irish centre did go on till excess of 4am. After checking the property details again in my brochure i realised that it does state "bars and discos on doorstep" and "property in middle of town. So what have we got to complain aout? NOTHING - airtours have given us all the details needed and it should be obvious to us it will be noisy so its our own fault.
I would not recomend going half board as food is very much catered 4 spannish and local restaurants are very good and very cheap and you can eat yourselves around the world. The jockey bar accross the road was fab and we went every day for slap up breckie yum yum. We would HIGHLY reccomend the MILLENIUM FLASHBACK evening which is easily the best night out we have ever had. Amazing Medieval knights show with coloured bibs and lots of shouting and banging our spoons. Our knight won so we were chuffed. After this we were treated to an amazing show by the reps - to be honest i was expecting it to be the usual sketches and miming but oh no it was amazing, really proffesional with lots of dif costumes great songs and dances. It was hard to believe these reps are the same ones that look after us all day long and they perform so well in the evening (do these guys ever get time off!!!!!!!) all this topped with 3 course dinner and free bar made it a night never to forget.
All in all it was a fantastic holiday and we will be visiting gran canaria again very soon.

i had went to green sea aparthotel from 23aug-30aug all inclusive with my partner and 2 children.i have to say that i had read this website and peoples opinion of this place and was dreading going on holiday to this place,
i would say to anyone that it is not as bad as it sounds but there are several issues that i would like to warn you about,
firstly you will not see a rep all week we never? the food is ok,the staff are not nice at all they never smile or look happy at all,the entertainment is a joke it seems to be the same music everynight, apart from nights they have a show on,and mondays have no entertainment at all it is his day off,it seems the guy who does all the entertainment has a very limited budget,he is a nice chap though,my son also left his trainers on patio/garden area and they were stolen,so i would advise anyone not to leave anything out overnight.
the apartment on arrival we were met by a lizard in our apartment which was there for several days,it has a large population of cockroaches in area please bring spray to kill these things.
local bars are a good distance it is advisable to get a taxi to either san augistin or playa del ingles it only costs 4 euros.if you walk to these areas you will be pestered by timeshare louts with scratchcards trying to con you,the shopowners all try to entice you in to shops to buy things all the time and can get very aggresive at times i have been to spain many times and never seen anything as bad as this, san augustin would be the better place to go to for shopping and bars it is not as busy.
but overall the best advise to anyone going here would be stay in hotel and meet people in hotel,we did meet a lovely family from harrogate which made our holiday here.
have a great holiday

| The holiday overall was disapointing, as there is not much to do in the hotel, the night entertainment was hosted by a karaoke couple who's singing was terriable as they were trying to sing in english and were foreign, to make things worse when the dance floor was occupied it was full of old ball room dancers and for a 4* hotel the accomadation was very poor, staying in 4* hotels throughout the uk this did not meet my exspections, the room was poorly decorated with a plasic chairs to sit on, an old rusty t.v., the food was the same every night, just local food and as this was half board the catch was you had to buy the drinks which were very exspensive, the resort which is suppose to be good is to spread out and not as lively as exspected, i was bored by my third day then and wanted to go home.
