| We visited Cannes for 1 day as we were staying on a cruise ship. The ship anchored nearby and we were tendered into Cannes harbour on a much smaller craft. Cannes is a delightful place. Its outdoor market, its abundance of quality restaurants, pleasant walkways and smart hotels with private beaches of soft sand, gave us the feeling of an upmarket holiday resort. The marina had many luxurious crafts and a yacht race on the day we were there, enhanced the beauty of this memorable place to visit for a day.

I stopped at the Best Western Mondial in Cannes which was a perfect location. The hotel was located near Rue d’Antibes and just a few steps away from the central shopping area and the beach. The hotel staff were very helpful and were always eager to assist in any way, such as giving us directions and tips about where to eat and drink. The only slight down side was that our room was relatively small, but it was not really a problem because the room was clean and the bathroom had recently been refitted.
Cannes itself is beautiful but if you’re looking for culture and history then perhaps Cannes is not for you. Cannes is a vibrant, glamorous place to stay. It is full of life during the day and the evening and is the perfect location to people watch. Well recommended is a walk around the marina to marvel at the magnificence of some of the boats and yachts.
It should not be forgotten that Cannes is essentially a beach resort and the beach itself is clean and well maintained, although a little on the small side!
On our trip to Cannes it was recommended that we take the time to visit a nearby hilltop village called St Pauls de Vence, which was the highlight of the holiday. The village is enchanting and it is well worth the cost of the trip.
