We went on the ancient cities tour with Kuoni three nights in Cairo three nights in Petra Jordon. Our review on Cairo can be found on this site.

Our trip to Petra apart from a couple of hickups was absolutely fantastic. The hotel was impeccable and the service second to none. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very comfortable and very clean, the food was excellent and nice and hot, also the was a good selection something to suit everyone. As you can imagine there is only one place to go when in Petra and that is the lost city. Make sure you do Petra by night it is breathtaking and well worth the money.

It is advisable to get a multi pass to the site as this work's out cheaper, but check your ticket before you leave the ticket office to make sure there have been no misstakes on the amount of days you have purchased. Once inside the city make sure you do the high places first thing in the morning as it really is hard work climbing all the steps. For exsample it would take around two hours from entering the site to reach the monastery, one and a half hours is all uphill but this is well worth the effort.

We only had two days to see around the city which is nowhere near enough time to do justice to this amazing place. As usual you have your fair share of the locals trying to sell you niknaks, donkey and camel rides especially to the high places, but if you are upto it walk all the way as you have chance to appreciate the colours in the rock and the amazing architecture. Two days is not enough you need at least six days to be able to see everything with out rushing. So make sure you are reasonably fit and have good sturdy walking boots, plenty of water and suncream also something to cover your head. Another must is plenty of film for your camera.
