Adelaide has many scenic areas, a lovely river complete with ducks & swans, grassy banks, great botanical gardens but the biggest problem is that it is up to you to find them.

The tourist information is not interested in recommending activities or explaining what the different sites are in and around the city, all the info I obtained from them was that there was an art gallery, a museum and the tram to Glenelg. I finally in desperation picked up a tour brochure and made my own arrangements for a day tour.

That was certainly worth the money. We went to Mount Lofty lookout - wonderful views of the city and a beautiful location in itself. Hahndorf - a lovely old town which has become a craft centre and a trip on the Murray River - also well worth doing. The people in the shops were helpful and obliging which makes it all the more sad that the people who are supposed to be promoting the city are so out of tune with travellers needs. Adelaide is a place I would love to revisit to see more of the area and South Australia but do yourself a favour and do your research before hand to obtain the maximum benefit from your journey.
