4 retired adults took a 4 day break in an excellently situated, good value for money 4 star hotel, set in a prime location on the promenade next to a glorious beach at Aguadulce which is about 10 minutes by transport to the centre of Almeria. The weather at this time of year was also perfect for a short break.
The main beach front area at Aguadulce is quite up market, with the beach cleaned on a daily basis, with apartments, villas and hotels in good order. There are shops, but its glorious beach is the main attraction. There is a lot of new building development in the hills on the approach to the frontline properties. Almeria city is a lovely place with plenty of walkways, plazas, fountains and splendid buildings of character. The Cathedral from the outside was rather plain, but inside was richly appointed. We didn't take a visit to the Castle mainly because it necessitated rather too much walking up slopes, but it looked quite an impressive feature to the city. The beach at Almeria was extensive and clean, but I was disappointed with the amount of graffiti surrounding the hotels and apartments on the promenade. We all felt we made the right decision to take a beachside break in a quieter place with spectacular views than stay within the hustle and bustle of the city. Aguadulce is certainly worth a visit!
