I went on my own and found the appartments basic but clean. beds were a bit hard but otherwise nothig to complain about. thought maid kept it clean during my two week stay. beware the mosquitoes though - best to buy some incence coils to keep them at bay.

locally there was lots to do. best to go down to the strip to book boat trips as they are cheaper than booking with the rep. also hired a bicycle to go into corfu town (6 euros per day) as its not that hilly in that direction. would recommend the Cockerel bar as one of the friendliest in the area. also go to dimitris just round the corner for toasties and coffee.

all in all it was a good holiday and i would recommend the appartments to any one.

Georges Appartments were advertised as having a pool - there was one you could use but it was on the other side of the road and not part of George's Gardens.

The accommodation is very basic, our room (no. 4) had a kitchen/dining room, shower room with toilet & sink and a bedroom with twin beds. The matresses and pillows were very old we suffered from bug allergies. The walls were paper thin, so I don't think it would be very nice staying there high-season. By the way, there is a go-kart track next door and the main resort of Kavos is a 5 minute walk down the main road.

The weather all holiday was terrible - we don't advise you travelling the end of September to Corfu.

The resort of Kavos is, in our opinion, well and truly over. The beach (if you could call it a beach) was filthy, dangerous and smelly. The resort itself stunk of sulphur. There weren't many pubs and bars open.

The Drunken Squid was a nice place to eat.

We booked this hoiday as a cheap getaway, unfortunately Thomas Cook (the tour operator) and Libra didn't tell us that the resort was actually closing the week we got there (last week of September).

We ended up finishing our holiday early and getting the next available flight home.

We won't be visiting Corfu ever again.

We booked the ISv on the basis it was a quiet location suitable for couples and families how wrong could we be !!!

The complex next door has loud entertainment until about 01:00 so be warned.

First choice have filled the hotel with groups of lads and laddetes. It's not that I am a party pooper I just want to sleep when I go to bed. Word of warning rooms c3 and c2 have a communal stairway behind them so be prepared to be awake all night !!!

Our rep was worse that useless she just couldnt care less. Mark in the resort office was very helpful. As for trips don't book anything through the rep as the same trips can be bought much cheaper in kavos.

The accomodation was ok a bit dirty in places and has been said before the cleaners don't change the sheets or towels we had the same ones for 11 days.

If you want to know anything ask roula on reception she is very nice and helpful.

For meals go into town and go to pennys kitchen next to 42nd street 3 courses for 9 euro superb.

If you like loud music, late nights and general good partying plus the chance to escape from the hustle and bustle and take in the best views in Kavos then Hilltop is the place. It looks out across the North West Mountains of Greece Mainland, my apartment no.6 had a east facing balcony which meant you caught the sunrise on your way in some mornings!

Elena (Gorgeous) and Dimitris (no comment- sorry) or in English Helena and Jimmy! Two of the nicest people you could have at the Bar. Their secret is, if they enjoy it then the guests will, a bit like teaching really not that i'm a teacher.

Kavos was a fantastic place fairly busy for end of August / beginnning of September, but I would recommend this time if you want find a place to sit when you need rest those dancing legs. Also from a males point of view it turned out all the ladies where turning up in the last part of the season so 1 week into September may even be a better plan Lads!

Thanks to all those I met whilst chillin at the Hilltop especialy Elena and Dimitris. Anyone for a Frappa?

We booked this hotel without checking the reviews first and were stunned to see how badly it rated in the early reviews. Since Thomsons have taken over, things have definitely picked up.

Good Points

The complex itself is an architectural delight. Greco design with each block a different shade of pastel. Theres even a model of it in the reception. The grounds are well kept as befitting the Hotel's name. The gardeners were always around tending to the grass and flowers. The swimming pools were brilliant - not your usual rectangle hole with a shallow bit for kids.

The rooms were large. Unfortunately the children had the free TV (the programmes were rubbish though-only BBC World worth watching). Air con was free as it was Sept.
Kitchen was basic but who uses it anyway? As long as the fridge kept our beers cold we didn't mind. We had a faulty tap in the bathroom, which was fixed immediately.

The staff were brilliant throughout. The level of entertainment would match that found on any West End stage. Jane's all- dancing, all-singing troupe were breathtaking even working on such a small stage and budget. Helen, Joe, Emma, Natalie, Alan and Darren were exceptionally good singers. Their Disney Show and Tribute to the Musicals should not be missed.

The BBQ night was expensive but we each ate our 15 euros worth- Handy tip just claim to be vegetarian and you only pay 8 euros then cram your head full of meat - nobody will be any wiser.

Films and British football matches were shown on the a Big Screen so that saved a walk into town

Don't let any negative reviews of Kavos put you off, fair enough it's not the world's nicest holiday resort but you know what kind of resort Kavos is and if you're 18 and want a drinking holiday to celebrate the completion of college or sixth form, I would definately recommend Kavos!!!

Also, Bella Vista was decent accomadation, I would warn you anything you break will cost you 30 euros (always 30 euros!) so don't throw after clubbing parties in your room. The guy that runs the pool bar is a legend, he gives you plenty of free shots!

The bar I mostly recommend in Kavos is Rocky's, we went every night and it was fab, and look out for a hidden gem called Twins, don't know if this year's DJ will be there but he was great fun!!
Enjoy Kavos, drink plenty, you'll get used to the smell of Corfu!!

Second time in Kavos..... absolutely amazing. There's too much to say and would have a clue where to start!!!

Just got back last night and feel incredibily sad to be at home and back at work! Too many crazy and wicked people to ever forget.

ACCOMMODATION:-

The Aphrodite are quality with a quality owner!! Jo, the English lady who runs the place with her fella the Greek DJ are mint!! She went out to rep 20 years ago, met this greek guy and never came home! The soundest lady you will come across and we loved her to pieces. They also own Snobs, one of the biggest bars in Kavos (across from Buzz Bar) and all the PRs that work for Snobs are always round the Aphrodite pool in the day, they are like one massive family. Chal, Curtis, Wez and Tom you are crazy (hope u aint broke no more bones!!!) You're all wicked.

The rooms are standard and basic, we wernt overly impressed. They change your sheets only once if you're there for 2 weeks, so look after them otherwise you'll be sleeping on just the matress. And like the whole of Kavos, you don't get given no toilet paper so you need to buy your own. Also, if you find that anything's broke or damaged in your room when you get there tell the Reps straight away otherwise you do end up paying for it even if you aint done it.

The pool area is mint, anyone who is still to go this year- it is proper wicked. The Reps are cool, Kara is hilarious when she's p1ssed and a great gal to chat to (fink she is gonna miss us!), John is a sweety. Kenny, the boss is ace and we saw the real side of him in the second week! Get munching round the pool as well- mahoooosive tuna baguette is to die for.

BARS:-

Cant really say a lot as we didnt stroll very far!! We were right by Buzz, Snobs and 42nd St and these are the biggest bars on the strip. It really is hard to go to as many bars as you can because you really do get picked up by the PRs and they carry you in!! Fire Bar was wicked and we spent a lot of the first week in there. Such such a nice bunch of staff (big up to the stoke gals on the front!). Crash bar further up the strip is very popular with garage and drum and base, and we got into that music more that we thought we would!! 8 Surrey lads that arrived on our 2nd week were into that music big time and get Matty Small on that mike and he's away!! MC Massive!! He may even be staying there over the summer. (You 8 surrey boys were fantastic and we know its too quiet for you now, now we've gone!! Luvya, Keeeeeennooooo! Miss ya'll Wink

CLUBS:-

We only went to Venue and Future, Trinity at Future was wicked on our first Wednesday- with RatPac (or however they're spelt!) and Judge Jules is on this week. We had wicked nights in both clubs throughout the two weeks so both of em are worth lots of visits! Limelight was good on the Skool Disco, but wouldnt visit it on any other night- its a bit small.

But for a quality end to a night, 'After' Bar, which is on the beach was proper amazing. They build a fire on the sand and circle loads of sunbeds around it and wack on a BBQ until the sun comes up. We were there for quite a few nights! I've got some mint picture on my phone of the sunrise... beauuuuuuutiful.

Well, said to much probably already!! Don't listen to any bad about Kavos or the Aphrodite, coz if you're up for a wicked time and don't care to just let go then- just book up. We may go again in Sept if we can afford the dosh. (By the way, if you're like us and drink a lot and spend a lot you wouldn't completely at ease with taking any less than £900-£1000. We ran out 4 days before and we all took £800 each. I wouldnt do that again- you dont go away to worry about money.)

Rate then, I'm off. Wicked wicked wicked. I'm sooooo sad to be at home!

All's that needs to be said is:
"CHIPS AND GRAVY PLEASE MATE" Wink
(Its a northern thing!)

If you love wasps then go to this area (Kavos) in September time, although our son went in August and it was just as bad.
Locals told us it is a year round problem...you've been warned !
Can't comment on other areas on the Island.
The Acrodelon Appts were shabby, foisty & not particularly clean.
A/C was available if required though.
The staff were friendly and helpful, typical of Greek people.

There was little to do in this resort during the day (notwithstanding swatting wasps !)
Also the beach was dirty and a local told us not to go in the water because of the sewage....Hmmmm nice !
The only real positive, other than the lovely Greek people, was the food. We had truly excellent meals every night.
Even the PA's were friendly and pleasant and not too pushy, especially the Greek lasses.
We will never go to this area on Corfu again.

Have travelled to Italy many, many times before. This is the first time by coach, and the first time to Liguria.
We paid a supplement to travel on "Royal Consort", an upgraded coach with reclining seats, more legroom etc. Our two drivers Titch, and Leon were exceptional for their dedication to their passengers and good humour, and service on- board.

Hotels at the two overnight stopovers in Paris-outbound, and Dijon-return were excellent with good rooms and food.
Diano Marina is a typical Italian resort with good beach facilities, very clean and
with good shops etc (no tourist tat). There is a pedestrianised main street
with excellant bars and restaurants, also there is a seafront esplanade, again with many bars, all reasonably priced.

The owners of the Hotel Iva were always pleasant and helpful, the food for the evening meal was plentiful, although catering for our group was slanted at the tourist.Other guests had a differnt menu.
We only had another vegetable apart from potatoes once all week.Breakfasts were boring, hard rolls, ham and cheese. The other guests were offered fresh croissants.
Our room was very small. Because the double bed was only 15 inches from the wall/window I had to climb over the bed. Also had to straddle the bidet to use the sink.!!!!Although fresh towels every day and maids kept rooms very clean.

Consorts brochure mentions that there is a climb from the town to the hotel, but does not mention that the hotel is on the main road into the resort and suffers from heavy traffic noise(including construction lorries going to building sites)from around 0600 till 0200 in the morning, you either close the windows and suffocate, or listen to the noise. Our first good nights sleep after six nights was the stopover on the journey home.
There are two excellent included excursions. recommend Monoco/Monte Carlo
but take your passport if you want to go in the Casino. The visit to the OLD town of Dolceacqua was also very interesting and included a visit to a typical restaurant, local buffet style lunch including wine.EXCELLENT!!!!

Our tour guide for the excursions was also excellent. Marisa, an italian lady, born in Italy, who lived in Australia for a while, excellant english , and lots and lots of info about the region, its history and culture etc.
The outbound journey went without a hitch taxi/feeder coach to Dover, and changeover to the "Royal Consort" before boarding the ferry, all made easy by Titch and Leon.

The return journey arrived at Calais early, and again as we had time before the ferry Titch and Leon took us to a wine Hypermarket. Six bottles of excellant Cote de Rhone, for £16...
Ferry was an hour late leaving Calais, and one of the coaches was delayed ariving at the interchange, so we set of nearly two hours late. We also had an extra changeover...three coaches from Dover to Bridgwater, arriving at 0230 instead of 0050. Luckily the taxi we had arranged to meet us at Bridgwater agreed to come out and collect us.
Liguria is and excellent region of Italy, with stunning views, coach travel was excellent, but hotel not up to standard.

The walk to the town is all on the flat along the lake side and very pleasant. However my mum who is 70 found it a bit of a trek, but she isn't that fit. It is about one mile. The hotel bus needs to be booked in advance and you have to prearrange the time to be pick up which is not very convienent. And according to my mum it didn't drop you very close to town.

Also make sure you get this seasons Ferry timetable we didn't and nearly missed the last Ferry back to bordolino.

The Hotel itself is on the lake edge but is separated by a busy road. The rooms we had were great and the food was very good with excellent service.

The buildings work is nothing to worry about and didnt interfere. No noise.
