This hotel has to be the worse hotel I have ever stayed in. The rooms, we had 2, were dirty, we had used sanitory products in the gutter out side our rooms, The food was awful most of the time, the waitor cut a piece of cake then licked the knive and cut some more, The staff were rude, including those of First choice who didn't want to know. We were told just to complain when we returned to England. We had clothes and money stolen from our room. The building work just got worse. Out side in resort the men were horrible. All in all I never want to see this place again. This is the worsed holiday that my family have ever been on.

We arrived in the middle of the night we had to fill in forms and have photos taken for the all inclusive cards which were a joke the bar staff were rude and would rather serve a paying guest although being all inclusive you pay before you go. We had one room ready for 17 of us we had asked for 2 cots 1 arrived that night the other the next day thank goodness we had taken a travel cot which doubled up for a play pen the cots were very substandered with missing bars and matresses that did not fit. Once the rooms were sorrrted out we discovered that they had put my daughter and son in law in one room and the children aged 4 and 10 months down the hall although we had asked for ajoining rooms.

The hotel was noisy day or night with the cleaners waking you up at 7.30 banging around outside and upstairs so you would go for breakfast and they could get on and clean your room (my husband made the mistake of giving the cleaner 5 Dinar about £2.50 to be quiet much he expected it daily).

The entertainment is non existant and we were in bed by 9 oclock. Children play up and down the corridor day and night and play knock and run when you ask them to stop it or keep the noise down their charming parents usually want to fight you.

The bars, resturant is not big enough for the amount of people it must be even worse in high season

You cant get anything to eat after 9pm unless you pay for it.

When the bed sheets were removed for changing we discovered filthy matress covers which had so many hairs on that it was like woven into the material this was on my husbands bed and he's bald so they did not come from him.

The rooms were small but we had a fantastic view from our balcany but this did not compensate for the rest of the problems

The reps were unhelpful and not around much we lost one of our suit cases but had to track it down our selves we finally found it at the airport after 3 hours then when we got back to the hotel with our bag the rep said we owed her a drink that evening for what exactly i do not know yes she did say try the airpoort as we were on our way through reception to do so.

The zoo that is in the hotel grounds is absolutly disgusting I have since comming home contacted Monkey World in Dorset as they have monkeys there in small cages torrmented by keepers and all the animals have that pacing up and down disorder.

Dont what ever you do let your kids loose the all inclusive cards as it costs you £7.50 for new ones although they probably were handed in and put in the bin as they are no use to anyone else they have your photo on it.

Beware if your flight is delayed because they cancell your all inclusive cards at the time you are supposed to leave and wont re activate them although we needed water for the babies bottles. we had to rely on guests that we not going home until the next day. We were promised a room at 3 oclock for the babies and somewhere we could sterilize some extra bottles that never materialised and we left at 8.30. We were given 1 complimentary soft drink and we were given a meal at 6.30 although we could not have a further drink with it and there was no childrens menu.

We were colected eventually by not a coach but a shuttle bus usually used at the airport to transfer you from the aeroplane to the airport but then you have only hand luggage, it was quite difficult to stand in the middle of the bus as all the seats had gone and steady yourself with buggies ect and stop your luggage from sliding up and down the bus.

When we arrived at the airport we were told that we could not all sit together as we did on the way out but they put my daughter, her husband and their 4 year old daughter in rows no where near each other she got so upset that the lady next to me left her friend and changed places so she could sit next to me.

We have been on many holidays abroad before as a large group of 17 family and friends but we all have agreed that we will not travell abroad again we will stay in ENGLAND

PLEASE DON'T GO the tour operators must know there is a problem with this hotel but they keep on sending us over there. I just wish I had taken more notice of the bad reports on various web sites when we qustioned the bad ones we were told by our travell agent that we would love it and it was a great family holiday I DON'T THINK SO.

We visited this hotel june last year, and found it very good for adults though if youre thinking of going with children there isnt a lot for them to do as there is no childrens club, but if youre after a relaxing adult holiday this should be the place for you! The reception staff can be abit off at times, but the other staff/waiters are very friendly. The food is plain but plentifull. The evening entertainment is basic! The sunbeds are free, but if you pay the sunbed men, then they will reserve the beds for you the next day(nothing like a bit of bribery!!)

I travelled to the Occidental Abou Sofiane Hotel on the 31st August 2005 for one week with my husband and 14 year old daughter.

Having read all of the reviews I could find before I went, I thought it only fair to share my experiences with anyone thinking of holidaying there!

Hotel/Rooms:The hotel was full during the week we were there and after the first few days we joined in with getting up early to reserve a sun bed - or more importantly a parasol – the temperatures were still in the early to mid thirties.

The rooms were clean and quite adequate (the maids came in every day to change towels, make beds, sweep floors etc) and fairly represented a 3* hotel. We were on the ground floor overlooking the gardens near to the outside bar but had no problems with noise. The air conditioning was very welcome although I think it was turned down the day before we left as the room and reception areas became quite warm all of a sudden.

There were no smoking areas in the restaurants but not in the rest of the hotel and any signs were ignored!
