Very poor

Trip started on a bad note; the border/customs people are total gestapo thugs; expect the probe. Not a way to treat people going to spend money in your country.

For a city this size...BORING. Did the standard tourist thing, then tried to get out and see the city as the locals do. Stick to the ethnic restaurants; what passes for food in Canada wouldn't pass muster in a high school cafeteria. Not cheap either. Not much reason to go again.

We flew with Globespan club class. I don't know how they can survive the price was cheap when compared with the other carriers. The service in club was excellent, good food, unlimitted booze, wide leather seats, extra legroom, more recline on the seats, etc, etc, and 40kg of luggage in the hold and 15Kg in the cabin.

2nd time in Canada, we will return.

Plan your trip to make best use of your time, Toronto is great its relaxed and informal, friendly and with lots to do in the day and at night. Its a safe city, as cities go, we walked all over at all times of the day and night. There is crime but this is in the suburbs away from the downtown area.

The delta chelsea is as good as a downtown hotel gets, room average but well fitted, maid service was excellent, even under the bed got a hoover. The hotel has all the facilities, check the website, eating in and other facilities are not cheap.

There are hundreds of places to eat, literally hundreds. The fishermans wharf is expensive, baton rouge was poor - meat had large amounts of fat, wine poor quality, etc. Every other place we eat at was reasonable and with choice good with good quality. Booze is not cheap. Steak and fish are good value and good quality.

In the ticket office in the square Younge / Dundas you can get discount tickets and good info on whats happening. WE saw lord of the rings musical and blueman group both excellent shows. Saw a Canadian football match, 1 hour of play spread over 3 1/2 hours this is a once in a lifetime event I don't think I could stand that much excitement again!!!!

Taxis appear cheap compared to UK, tram was worth a trip, underground was clean cheap and efficient.

The PATH the underground city is amazing packed in the day with hundreds of shops and cheap eating places. At night the path is empty just security guards and tourists. Get a map.

Walking around was easy as the city is based on grids and blocks, don't use yonge to get anywhere as its packed all day and most of the night.

We had 11 nights in Toronto we needed the break and took things really slow, you could do the main sights in 3 days but you'd be pushed to enjoy.

Hotel was very central and execellent value for money.Staff were very friendly and full of local information. So much to do and see and not enough time.A city bus tour is a must , the ticket is valid for the entire duration of your stay. For breath taking views , go to the C.N. Tower go during day , morning is best.Lots of great places to eat and drink , all tastes are catered for.

Chinatown is also worth a visit ,the sights, sounds and smells, will have your sences in over drive. There
is also a great local market to visit, while there. You can also go `star spotting` as Toronto is used widely as a film location. There were 4 major films being made ,while we were there. And ,yes, we did spot a few; Steve Martin, Antonio Banderous,Michael Douglas.
Toronto is a great city and you`ll enjoy ant holiday there.

This hotels excellent value for money. Great position lots of bars, coffeee houses, and very cheap restaurants around. Two family restaurants close by 24hrs. all u can bkfst at the family griddle accross the road great value at weekend. Small 24hr supermarket opposite hotels. Subway on corner. Easy waliking distance for centre of toronto. Was a bit concerned as the hallways are very dark and drab in the hotel but the rooms are quite brightly decorated with lots of space. Fridge and coffee machine Staff very friendly and helpful

Would highly recommend for a good value budget city hotel

Excellently located 'cheap & cheerful' hotel in downtown Toronto. Rooms are of a decent size and are clean and tidy with laundry/towels changed every day if required. This is a great base from which to do all your exploring with a 5 minute walk to Yonge St where all the major shopping/food areas are and about 1/2 hour walk to main attractions! Pool and small gym area are both fine - if you get time to use them! Caeser Spa just off the hotel lobby is well worth a visit. The Hot Stone massage was amazing (and half the price in the UK) and the other treatments very good too. Safety deposit boxes are free of charge ($100 fuly refundable deposit) and rooms can be kept on for late check out at no extra cost in most instances.

Out of hotel and left to the intersection of Carlton & Church St (appx 2 mins) is Daybreak cafe - great place for breakfast. Portions are huge (this seems to be the theme in Canada!) and for appx £3 you get a breakfast fit
for a king with as much coffee as you can drink. Staff are friendly and service is great.

Other good places to eat - on Yonge St at the Atrium centre 'The Pickle Barrel' & Red Lobster , both highly recommended. Good curry from D'haba (King St West) down in Theatre Land. Chinese (The Spring Roll in the Atrium) very nice but bit like a production line - felt very rushed eating meal even though it was good. Under ground food areas on the Paths are very good too with huge portions for between £2 - £8! Tipping is expected at between 10 - 15% of the bill.

Must do's = CN Tower (of course) just do the basic tour to both of the viewing platforms and glass floor. Sightseeing tour on Bus - really good as you can hop on & off as much as you like & ticket is valid for 3 days. Shopping at the Eaton Centre & Yorkville with bargains galore. Bata Shoe Museum on Bloor St - excellent even if you are not that into shoes, The ROM (Royal Onterio Museum) - under expansion until early 2007 but well worth a look round, some exhibit have been closed but the price has been reduced to reflect this. Take a walk through Queens Park as its lovely to find a bit of green in the middle of the city! Niagra - We were glad we went as its a long way to go and not see it but were slightly disappointed, but everyone will have their own view on it! Duffrin Mall - huge out of town shopping mall appx 20 mins on underground.

A HUGE mention must go to Zoom Airlines who were first class (we've flown a lot of long haul and these guys beat some of the supposedly 'better' airlines and are much cheaper!). We booked the seats a bit apprehensively as they seemed cheap compared to others (£178 economy return plus taxes or Premium £318 return plus taxes) however there was nothing to fear. The whole experience was first class, food, service, in flight entertainment, comfort - the premium seats are great with a 36" seat pitch - for a small additional amount you can pick your seats online & pre book. I would definitely use them again - they fly all over Canada and would highly recommend them.

When leaving the airport consider getting a cab if 4 or more as its much cheaper than getting the shuttle bus (which doesn't go direct to Days Inn) - it saved us about £20 in total and much more conveinient.

This hotel is gorgeous inside and the staff can't do enough to help you. The rooms are spacious and well kept. The bar restaurant meals are great although the other restaurant doesn't have a huge choice. But who cares, you're in Toronto! There's loads of restaurants downtown anyway. Ask for a view facing south and higher up the building to see across to the CN Tower and down to Nathan Phillips Square (partially blocked by the City Hall).

Must sees: CN Tower (day and night), Niagara Falls, Casa Loma, Blue Jays game at the Skydome plus a tour of how they made the retractable roof), Science Museum, Nathan Phillips Square (for a chill out afternoon), Toronto Islands.

Try going to the Loose Moose bar on Front Street if you want a laugh. East Side Marios (also on Front St) is an Italian/New York diner with fabulous food. Try the Nutty Chocolatier on Yonge for take-home gifts.
