Waterfront Hotel - Sliema
A lovely hotel with fantastic views over the harbour to Valletta - the seaview supplement is only £2 per night each and is well worth it. Rooms very spacious and kept spotless. The aircon is the best i have had and is completely noiseless. Breakfast was normal buffet style and the mini bar was very reasonable. The only possible drawback was the roof top pool which was quite small but it didn't bother us - who wants to use a pool when there is a beautifully clear, warm sea surrounding the island.
The hotel is convenient for buses to all other parts of the island and St Julians Bay with its fantastic restaurants is only a half hour stroll away .
There is too much to see on Malta for only a fortnights holiday but dont miss Valetta, Mdina, Vittoriosa, Senglea and Marsaxlokk. There are also some lovely beaches our favourite was Golden Bay.
A visit to Gozo is a must, last year we went for the day to Rabat, the capital. This year we spent three days on the island - fantastic, beautiful beaches and villages. Its very laid back and driving around was very pleasant as the roads are quite quiet.
Everywhere we ate was very good and the food and drinks are cheap. Malta really is a little piece of heaven!

My mum and I recently visited this hotel. It's centrally situated, and there are loads of shops and restaurants nearby. Plus there are great views across the bay to Valletta.
The ferries run from right opposite to various parts of the island.
We took the Grand Harbour Cruise to be close to such large tankers and the glamorous yachts - and to see where the film Gladiator was set.
The brightly coloured buses run regularly to most of the main attractions. Taxis are parked outside most hotels. Agree the price before setting off.
Our meals in the hotel were varied and there was plenty to eat.
Hope to return soon.

Waterfront Hotel - Sliema |

The Waterfront is primarily for adults; although there were children staying there they were baby/toddler age. This, however suited us fine. Guests when we visited were mainly Scandanavian and German although a good number of Brits.
Its our second time staying at this hotel, going back a second time should speak for itself. Clean, reasonably spacious rooms, decent quality beds, minibar, bedlinen changed every other day as were the towels and given that we are not especially tidy people the maid earned her wages.
Reception staff speak good english mostly and are helpful, there is a small carpark which is helpful as I am partly disabled and it was great to be able to park the hirecar (dropped off in the garage).
We went half board; this is OK for one week but by the end of the second week the food may become monotonous. That said, there is a reasonable choice at breakfast (cereal, fruit salad, yogurt, bread, cold meat and cheese and the British style hot cooked choices) and dinner (various salads, one soup, a pasta, a roast of some type, average desserts) Most is cooked competently if not imaginatively. If you want chips with everything this is not the place to come. The restaurant staff are in the main very helpful, especially Charles -a wonderful chap who helped me find a table and brought me coffee when I was especially ropey on my feet. A gesture which was much appreciated.
I recommend that you clench your bum (the maltese approach to road repair is basic away from the main resorts and towns) and go to Dingli Cliffs, fantastic views and so peaceful; a trip to Gozo and the Salt Pans, (go yourselves with a hire car and avoid the craft village as there is a fair amount of tat on sale) Do something like Captain Morgan. We went with a smaller company called Luzzu Cruises on a Harbour Trip, this was a much smaller traditional maltese boat which I felt had a more personal feel to it. Take a top as it can get chilly despite the sun. The guys running this trip were especially good helping me get on an off.
Malta is worth a bash at least once and we'll be going back for a third go at some point soon. The people are friendly, the slightly battered feel is refreshing compared to the sanitised tourism being punted throughout the rest of Europe. If you have a mobility problem its very much swings and roundabouts but take your blue badge which should help.

Hotel Plaza / Regency Plaza - Sliema
My-self and my husband chose Malta to get married at this year and also took along member of my family (lads 15 & 18, girl 22 and parents in 40s - we are 29 & 36). We found so much to do to meet all our needs. There was a small beech opposite, a bus stop straight outside the hotel that would take you to anywhere on the Island (ie popular beaches & popeye island).
Would recommend going to Snoopy's Bar at night (which is near enough next door to the hotel), bar staff so friendly. After we had g0ot married in Valetta, he opened his bar early so we could go in and the owner Edwin bought us all a drink.
As for the hotel - it was lovely, we had no fault at all with it. We had a room in the Regency side on the 6th floor with a balcony. I didn't shut the curtains at night as the view was so fantastic. My parents didn't have a room with a view but thought it was a lovely room are were very happy with it. The rooms were always clean and were always being cleaned. All staff in the hotel were helpful and very friendly. We went to the pool on the roof of the hotel most of the time. It was always clean and staff friendly too.
I have noticed that a lot of people on this site complain about the food and the buffet style. I would rather and most people we spoke to thought the buffet style was best - it means you are not hanging around for a waiter to wait on you hand and foot and then you can go and enjoy the night. There was always pleanty of choice ie 2 meat dishes and one fish dish with a variety of veg. There were 7 of us all together and not one of us had a bad meal. I have been half board before na d the meals were disgusting - not here though. Half Board did put me off because of previous experiences, but with getting hitched we could only go half board. But we enjoyed our holiday that much - we have all booked to go back next year where we will hopefully meet all our new friends again.

Hotel Kennedy Nova - Sliema |

On arrival we were met by very pleasant reception staff. We had a family room which gave us plenty of space, however, we were right above the bar and the smoke would find its way into our room. The swimming pool is situated on the roof, it is small but inviting if it gets hot (not in April). Breakfasts were very good, catered for most peoples needs. The drinks were reasonable in the Hotel.
We ate out every night as we have a friend who is Maltese and he spoilt us. Most Maltese people are very friendly and speak English well.
The only thing we didn't like was the time share people that pester holiday makers along Sliema and St Julians sea front.
If your are looking for a good beach though, go to Mellieha Bay (nice and sandy) although mot much to do of an evening.
We have been to Malta several times and will continue to go back. Hiring a car is easy as they drive on the same side of the road as we do.
** BEWARE*** - They now have speed cameras on the island, 3 at our last count.
