The region includes the eastern part of the Po Valley and, to the north, a part of the Dolomites. The extensive plain, with the Po delta, is rich in water. It is a region which combines two different and unique landscapes: the lagoon zone, close to Venice and the majestic peaks of the Dolomites in the Cadore area. Veneto is traditionally a region of great attraction to tourists, with the presence of a high quality centre of interest such as Venice, Verona, Treviso, Padova, Vicenza and other small town with great interest from an environmental and artistic point of view like: Soave, with its castle and circle of walls, Marostica, still surrounded by fourteenth century walls, Bassano del Grappa, Asolo, Castelfranco Veneto, with beautiful sixteenth century buildings, Cittadella, a medieval village, Feltre, with famous Renaissance buildings, Vittorio Veneto, Portogruaro, Montagnana with its old town centre enclosed by walls, Este with a wealth of Renaissance buildings and churches, Chioggia, a picturesque village on the Adriatic coast. All over the Veneto, but especially in the Provinces of Treviso, Padua, Vicenza and Venice, stand numerous remarkable artistic rural constructions, the Ville Venete. Dates of construction of these villas range from the fifteenth to the nineteenth centuries and are declared of historical and monumental interest. Also in Veneto there are the very famous resorts with facilities for the winter seasons: Cortina d'Ampezzo, Arabba, Auronzo, Alleghe, Sappada, Asiago, and summer seasons, include Bibione, Caorle, Lido di Iesolo, Lido di Venezia, Sottomarina, Albarella and Lake Garda. The Veneto Spa resorts are traditionally important, these include Recoaro, Abano, Montegrotto, Galzignano and Battaglia, all on the slopes of the Euganean hills, characterized by the presence of warm thermal waters. |
