Situated in equatorial West Africa, Nigeria is the continent's most populous nation. It has a southern coastline on the Gulf of Guinea, and has Benin to the W, Cameroon to the SE, Chad to the NE, and Niger to the N. It is the largest oil producer and second largest economy in Africa.
Nigeria's reputation is often tagged with corruption, ethnic violence and as a travel destination, Nigeria seems more a place to avoid than to book a holiday. Aside from sandy beaches, lagoons, national parks, magnificent waterfalls and fascinating historic sites, Nigeria's main cities are a real attraction.
