Guinea is a naturally beautiful country which is both hindered and heightened by its location in W Africa. It's neighbours aren't particularly friendly and latest travel alerts and advice should be taken (especially the borders with Sierra Leone, Cote D'Ivoire and Liberia which are not safe). Aside from its neighbours, Guinea itself is a bit volatile and advice should be sought before embarking on an adventure here.

Safety issues aside, the country has a wealth of attractions for the traveller. The Fouta Djalon Plateau in the W boasts some breathtaking scenery, variety of waterfalls. The country also provides some of the best hiking in W Africa. Guinea is not home to an abundance of beaches, but those that it does have are fantastic; and often empty. The capital, Conarky, while not particularly noteable for attractions, has a vibrant nightlife and is safer than most other W African capital cities.
