Svoronata is located in the Southwest of the island of Kefalonia, approximately 4 miles south of Argostoli, and 2 miles south of Lassi. Although Svoronata is only minutes from the airport, the area is peaceful and scenically very beautiful with lots of olive groves and fields full of wild flowers. Svoronota is a small inland village, measuring 1 ml by ¾ ml with no real centre, split in 2 by a steep, narrow, winding road and comprising 2 churches, a few tavernas and some extremely narrow streets just about the width of a car in places.
The village has hotels including the Irinna and Blue Horizon and a variety of self-catering apartments and studios scattered around, many with their own pools and snackbar facilities. Kosmar and Libra feature the village in their brochures, but most of the good accommodation in the resort can be booked independently. The area is suitable for middlemarket couples, singles and families wishing for a quiet holiday. The local area appeals to walkers, cyclists and nature lovers. Having your own transport an advantage, or visit one of the car-hire shops in the area. Locality: Svoronota is situated in the SW of the island, 4 mls S of Argostoli, 4 mls W of Pessada, 1½ mls E of the airport. Its setting is 1 ml inland, in steep, thickly wooded terrain which flattens out towards the rocky coastline before dropping sharply to the sea. In a fertile agricultural area of olive and citrus groves, vineyards and some cultivated fields. |
