Mayrhofen is in south east Tyrol, forming the south point of a triangle with Salzburg (95 mls NE) and Munich, Germany (75 mls NW). It is found at the end of the Ziller Valley, just before it splits into 4 smaller side valleys. For 2 years the Mayrhofen skiing region has linked up with the Finkenberg, Rastkogel and the Eggalm skiing area to create the huge "Ski-Zillertal3000" skiing region. This amounts to a very special "summit meeting" with skiers and snowboarders on the invitation list.

In total there are 146 kilometres of slopes and 46 lifts for all skiers and boarders. Whether beginner, advanced or professional, there is something here for everyone, with 20km of black, 86km red or 40km of blue runs.

The overall capacity of all the lifts combined is approx. 60,000 people per hour. To be able to offer unlimited winter fun, the lift company produces additional artificial snow from November to April. Altogether there is an area of 96 hectare covered with artificial snow.

This resort offers a cosmopolitan mix, predominantly German but also many British, Dutch and some Italians. The resort has something for everyone, making it suitable for families, singles, couples and groups.

All of the hotels are in traditional Tyrolean chalet style, most are family run. There is one 5-star hotel, many 4- and 3-stars, plus plenty of B&B pensions varying in price and standard. There are a few apartments but these are expensive and quite luxurious.
