This resort is built up the side of steep, pine-clad slopes on the site of 2 ancient villages, Kriopigi has more of a rural village atmosphere than most resorts on this coast.It is a basic development in terms of amenities offered and the hilly terrain gives it a somewhat disjointed feel. The tourist "strip", with restaurants and shops, stretches 400 yds along the main through road; hotels, houses and apartments are sprinkled throughout the 900-yd descent from the main road to the beach.

There is a broad appeal in this area, but generally patronised by British and German visitors. The steep climb up from the beach may deter those with mobility difficulties. The accommodation consists of around 10 mainly mid-range hotels, with a couple towards the upper end of the spectrum. There are some self-catering apartments also available. The Concentration of accommodation is near the village centre.

Locality:

Kriopigi is near the centre of the east coast of the Kassandra peninsula (56 mls SE of Thessaloniki, 51 mls SE of its airport by reasonably maintained road). Kriopigi is positioned in a fold of the green hillside, high above the north east facing coast.
