Overview Things to do Suitability Country Info (Greece)
A delightful former fishing village set on a picturesque bay. Most of the newer buildings have been built with an eye to retaining the village's traditional character and luxurious private homes are sprouting up on the hillside above. The area's main claim to fame apart from the stunning scenery is that the writer Lawrence Durrell lived here in the 1930s, completing his Corfu travelogue, Prospero's Cell, at the "White House" situated at the far end of the bay. Now converted to tourist accommodation and over-capitalised by the tour operator, the terrace houses a small taverna with fine bay views. The area caters for those seeking no more than a beach, a view and a couple of tavernas. A car is almost essential. The accommodation here is mainly self-catering apartments.

    Locality:

Kalami is on the north east coast (17 mls N of Corfu Town and the airport). It is on the Bay of Kalami, on one of the most scenic stretches of coastline in Corfu; surrounded by olive groves with hills rising up behind.
