Overview Things to do Suitability Country Info (USA)
Jackson, Mississippi's capital and largest city, has a population of about 400,000 spread over a large geographic area, making it seem smaller than it is. The city has a distinctly laid back and relaxed feel and any tourist is well advised to take in the sights by car due to the vast distances between attractions. The main landmark in the city is the old Mississippi State Capitol building in the very centre of the downtown area, modelled on the US Capitol in Washington and adding an impressive dimension to the city skyline.

Jackson is a city famous for its music – including Gospel, Blues, and R&B. Jackson is also home to the world famous Malaco Records recording studio. The city also branches outside of its music heritage to host a variety of historic buildings and museums. The shopping eating, accommodation and nightlife opportunities are found in Ridgeland.
